Eco-Management and Audit Scheme

Respect for the environment develops from my personal ongoing commitment to the territory where I, along with my company, live.

Romano Minozzi, chairman of Iris Ceramica.

In 2001 Iris Ceramica obtained the EMAS registration, following the certification of its environmental management system according to the ISO 14001 international standard. This acknowledges a corporate philosophy which has always been environment-friendly.

The EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) regulation is among the major environmental policy instruments introduced by the European Union to promote sustainable development and prevent environmental degradation.

This voluntary system for eco-management and auditing encourages continual improvement of the environmental activities implemented by businesses, and involves the organisations themselves in evaluating their performance and enhance the environmental awareness of all personnel.

Iris Ceramica has drawn up the Environment statement 2003, validated by an accredited certifying body, in order to provide the public with information about the environmental impact of its manufacturing processes and about its improvement programme concerning the relevant effects for the 2004-2006 period.
