WINNERS OF ACTIVE DESIGN COMPETITION RECEIVE THEIR AWARDS

The event organised by Iris Ceramica and FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti to coincide with the annual Cersaie fair was held yesterday evening. About 600 people were invited to the "REUSE REDUCE RECYCLE" evening organised by the Iris group in association with Slow Food at the refurbished Fiorano Modenese showroom, designed by Massimo Iosa Ghini.
The evening included the awards ceremony for the winners and honourable mentions in the Active Design competition organised by Iris Ceramica and FMG during the year.
The competition, held this year for the second time and organised in association with QN-Il Resto Del Carlino, was established with the aim of encouraging and promoting eco-compatible architectural design and a new, sustainable approach to architecture, involving the use of environment-friendly eco-active products such as ACTIVE Clean Air & Antibacterial Ceramic™.

Three winners tied for victory in the second edition of the competition: Eduardo Merello Godino , of Estudio de Arquitectcos Consultores SN EACSN with the Centro Médico y de Bienestar in Madrid; Guido Matta of Studio Matta & Partners, for the design of the Académie L’Oreal in Brussels and, last but not least Marco Vismara and Andrea Vigan of Studio D73 for the Brescia Social Housing residential and retail development project.

Five projects also received special mentions from the jury:
- The hanging gardens in Varese by Massimiliano Bergamaschi of Studio FSB ARCHITETTURA;
-The Ipercoop retail mall in Ravenna by Germana Caselli, of Studio IGD SIIQ SPA;
- The "Bimbi" Nursery School, Lazio Region by Gabriele Marasmi of Studio Fabbricart Architetti Associati;
- The Mohamed Aden Sheikh Teaching Hospital, Somaliland, by Giorgio Rosental of Studio Rosental;
-The new Maritime Station in Ravenna by Enrico Ventura.

The winners and the projects selected for honourable mention by the jury received their awards from the Chairman and CEO of Iris Ceramica Graziano Verdi and Federica Minozzi at the end of an original evening organised in association with Slow Food, which served all the guests with the foods and traditionally made products that express the very best of Italy’s culinary identity.
